Petit Somme Privacy Policy
This English text is a courtesy translation. The French version prevails.
In short
- No account. Your baby's log (naps, feeds, notes…) stays on your iPhone. We can't access it.
- The app sends us nothing: no usage counts, no identifier, no information about your baby. We only receive the emails you choose to write to us. If you agreed to it in your iPhone settings, Apple also passes us crash reports and overall figures, without your name (section 4).
- No ads, no tracking across apps. The subscription purchase goes through Apple.
- If you back up your iPhone (iCloud Backup or a computer), Apple's backup includes the app's data, under Apple's terms.
- You can export or delete all your data from the app.
1. Who is responsible
Petit Somme is published by a sole trader established in Israel ("we"). The publisher's identity and contact details are in section 10 (Contact). Contact for any question about your data: support@petitsomme.com.
We can't read the data you record about your baby: it stays on your iPhone (and in your own Apple backup, if you make one). As a precaution, we still apply GDPR rules as if we were responsible for it. For the emails you write to us (section 2.D) and the website (section 3), we decide how they are used: we are responsible for them.
2. What the app processes, why, and on what legal basis
A. Sensitive data: information about your baby (entered by a parent)
Data controller: the publisher (identity in section 10). Contact: support@petitsomme.com.
This data is stored on your iPhone only. It is never sent to us.
| Data | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| First name or initial (optional) | Personalise the app | Art. 6(1)(b) (providing the app) and art. 9(2)(a) (explicit consent) |
| Birth date | Calculate age and choose the guides | same |
| Born early or not, due date | Calculate corrected age | same |
| Log: naps, nights, wakings, feeds, nappies | Show history, calculate and adjust the day's plan | same |
| Nursery days and home time | Adapt the plan to those days | same |
| Free-text notes (optional) | Your own notes | same |
| Note on the sheet for the nursery or nanny (optional) | What you want to pass on to the person who looks after your baby | same |
| Reason for a flexible day (e.g. "Teething", "Not feeling well") | Adapt the plan that day | same |
- Why article 9. This is data about your baby's sleep and feeds (considered sensitive). It is about a child. Some of it can reveal a health state (prematurity, a reason such as "Not feeling well", your notes). As a precaution, we treat all of it as sensitive data and ask for explicit, separate consent before storing anything.
- If you decline ("Not now"): nothing about your baby is stored. The app can't log naps or work out a plan, but you can read the guides. You can change your mind at any time.
- Withdrawing consent: any time, in Settings › Privacy › Withdraw my consent. Your baby's data, the nanny-sheet note and the names you chose for "Who gets up at night" are then deleted from the iPhone, and the app stops storing them.
- The plan is calculated on your iPhone from your entries. It produces no decision with legal effect on you (no automated decision-making within art. 22).
- We never use this data for advertising or profiling.
B. Your consent and settings
- The app keeps on your iPhone the version and date of your acceptance of the terms and of your consent so that it can be shown and your choices respected. Basis: legal obligation to be able to demonstrate consent, art. 6(1)(c). This information isn't sent to us.
- Your settings (bedtime, reminders, nursery days, the names you choose for "Who gets up at night"…) stay on your iPhone. Basis: art. 6(1)(b).
C. The subscription
- The purchase, free trial, renewal and restore happen with Apple, through the App Store's purchase system. Apple handles your payment under its own terms.
- The app only asks Apple, on your iPhone, whether a subscription is active. We receive neither your card, nor your identity, nor your purchase history. Apple gives us only overall sales reports that don't identify you.
D. When you write to us
If you write to support@petitsomme.com (from the Support page or directly), we receive your email address and message, to reply. Your message passes through Cloudflare, which forwards it without keeping it, and arrives in our mailbox at Google (Gmail). It is your choice: the app sends no email itself. Basis: art. 6(1)(b) or 6(1)(f). We keep them while we handle your request, then for at most 12 months.
E. What you choose to share
- "Export my data" (Settings › Privacy) creates a file of your log. It leaves your iPhone only if you send it with the iOS share sheet, to the person and app of your choice. Once sent, it depends on the app and the person receiving it.
- The sheet for the nursery or nanny makes an image on your iPhone (your baby's first name, usual nap times and your note). It leaves the iPhone only if you send it with the iOS share sheet. Check it before sending. Once sent, it depends on the app and the person receiving it.
F. What we don't do
No usage counts: the app sends us nothing. No ads, no analytics or advertising kit from another company in the app, no tracking across apps, no "track my activity" prompt (ATT), no Apple Health data (HealthKit), no location, no photos, no marketing emails. Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone: they go through no server. Links to official pages (for example sante.fr) open in Safari.
3. The petitsomme.com website
- Hosting. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (USA). To show the pages and protect the site against attacks, Cloudflare processes your device's IP address and technical details of the visit (time, page requested, browser), and keeps technical logs of them. Cloudflare keeps them as long as needed for these purposes, under its own privacy policy. Basis: our legitimate interest in running and protecting the site (art. 6(1)(f)).
- No cookies, nothing from outside. The site sets no cookies and loads nothing from another site: no fonts, scripts, videos or visitor statistics from another company. Links to other sites (Apple, sante.fr, CNIL) open only if you tap them.
- Transfer outside the European Union. Cloudflare is a US company. This transfer is covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, in which Cloudflare takes part, and by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, part of Cloudflare's data processing agreement.
4. Where the data is and who receives it
| Who | Role | Receives what |
|---|---|---|
| Your iPhone | Stores everything | All you enter |
| Apple (backup of your iPhone) | If you back up your iPhone (iCloud or a computer), the backup includes the app's data. Apple acts under its own terms. This is not a Petit Somme feature | The baby's information, inside your backup. We can't access it |
| Apple (App Store) | Sells and bills the subscription | Your purchase, under Apple's terms |
| Apple (crash reports and overall figures) | Only if you agreed to it in iPhone settings (sharing analytics with app developers) | Technical crash reports and overall figures about how the app is used, without your name or any data about your baby |
| Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) | Processor. Hosts the website (section 3) and forwards your emails to our mailbox without keeping them | Technical information about website visits, and your emails for the time it takes to forward them |
| Google LLC (USA), Gmail | Processor. Hosts our support mailbox | Your emails and email address, for at most 12 months |
| Us (the publisher) | Answers your emails | What you write to us |
- Two processors, Cloudflare and Google, act on our instructions. They never receive the information about your baby, except what you choose to write to us by email.
- Transfer outside the EU: Cloudflare and Google are US companies. These transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, in which both companies are certified, and, for Cloudflare, also by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses in its data processing agreement (section 3).
- Version 1.0: your baby's log stays on the iPhone. There is no iCloud sync, no shared household and no invited people.
- If you back up your iPhone, Apple includes the app's data in the backup (iCloud or a computer), according to your settings and Apple's terms, and not at our request. We can't access it.
5. How long
| Data | Duration |
|---|---|
| Baby's information and log | On your iPhone, until you delete it (Settings › Privacy › Delete all data) or delete the app. We don't keep it |
| Consent log | On your iPhone, as long as the app is there |
| Website technical logs (Cloudflare) | As long as needed for security, under Cloudflare's privacy policy |
| Support emails | At most 12 months |
Good to know: deleting the app erases its data from the iPhone. "Delete all data" erases it on the iPhone and does not cancel the subscription. If you back up your iPhone, copies may remain in those backups (iCloud or a computer), depending on your Apple settings, until they are replaced or you delete them: we can't erase them.
6. Your rights
You have the right to know what data is processed, to access it, to correct it, to erase it, to restrict its processing, to receive it in a common format (portability), to object to processing based on legitimate interest and to withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting what was done before.
- In the app, directly: Settings › Privacy › Export my data; Settings › Privacy › Delete all data; Settings › Privacy › Withdraw my consent; edit any baby information.
- By email: support@petitsomme.com. We reply within one month. Because your baby's data stays on your iPhone, we can neither read it nor erase it remotely: use the app features above.
- Complaint: you can contact the CNIL (Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés), 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, France, cnil.fr. If you live in another EU country, you can contact the authority of your country.
7. Children
- Petit Somme is for parents and adults who care for a baby. We never collect data from children.
- The app's data is about a child and entered by a parent (or an authorised adult), who exercises the child's rights. We ask for no surname, no photo and no location.
8. Security
Your data is protected by the security of your iPhone (passcode, iOS data protection), and by that of your Apple backup if you make one. No system is 100% secure. Protect your iPhone and your Apple account.
9. Changes to this policy
We update it if the app or the law changes, and before any version of the app that would process data differently. For an important change, we tell you in the app. The version number and date at the top show the version in force.
- Version 1.1 (3 November 2026): added the website (section 3), support emails (Cloudflare and Google, section 4), the nanny-sheet note and image, and the names for "Who gets up at night".
